Growing Power Struggle Between China and the United States

The power struggle between China and the United States reached new heights earlier this month in Hanoi, Vietnam.
At the ASEAN Regional Forum, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced that the peaceful resolution of sovereignty claims to the South China Sea is in America's "national interest."
Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Brunei are all engaged in maritime quarrels with China over the waters and the announcement stating America's role in enforcing the peace has given them all hope.
Feeling ambushed and frustrated with its failure of maintaining the dispute at bilateral levels, Chinese representatives answered back at the US saying Washington should not internationalize the dispute.
