Malaysian Fairuz to drive the Lotus in first practice session

FOR someone who watched the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix race on television last year, it will be the biggest transformation for Fairuz Fauzy when he makes his long-awaited track appearance at the Sepang circuit on Friday.

Fairuz was confirmed yesterday to drive the T127 Lotus car in the first practice session and he is set to be the first Malaysian in eight years to get F1 race action in a round of the championships.

The last Malaysian driver was Alex Yoong, who raced for two seasons for Minardi from 2001. And Fairuz is rubbing his hands with delight at his biggest moment to come.
