Preserve the beauty of Pulau Perhentian

RECENTLY I had a delightful holiday in Malaysia. I managed to spend four days at Pulau Perhentian which I must say was a tropical paradise.

I was pleasantly surprised that there are still sandy white beaches and crystal clear waters in Malaysia despite hearing stories that many such places have already been ruined by pollution and over development.

From what I saw at Perhentian, it is truly one gem of an island that is at serious risk of being destroyed. I saw haphazard development of chalets on the island and construction sites that were not properly cordoned off and without signage. I have serious doubts that these developments have the necessary approvals or permits.
