Sir Chris Hoy claims 'very special' 10th title

It was Hoy's 10 world title since 2002 and was as hard earned as any after a fraught day at the office and a storming finish from Malaysia's Azziz Awang. That pumping fist at the finish signified everything.

In a tense final, Hoy was yet again prevented from getting his preferred positon at the front of the six man field after the derny motorbike peeled off but eventually battled his way there with a withering burst, at which point the race seemed all over. Awang, however, is the fastest emerging talent in the sport and battled valiantly all the way down the long straight here at Bellarup Super Arena.
